3,200+ DSCs issued. Class 2 & Class 3. Mandatory for MCA, GST, IEC, e-tendering & income tax filings.
A Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) is an electronic equivalent of a physical signature, issued by a licensed Certifying Authority (CA) under the Information Technology Act 2000. It uses asymmetric cryptography to authenticate the identity of the signer on electronic documents and portals. DSC is mandatory for directors signing MCA forms, GST registration, DGFT IEC applications, trademark filing on IP India, income tax e-filing (for companies and auditors), and government e-tendering. In India, DSCs are classified as Class 3 (for all high-security applications including MCA, GST, DGFT, and e-tendering) — the older Class 2 has been discontinued since January 2021.
A Digital Signature Certificate is mandatory for anyone signing documents on government portals. Here are the most common users.
All directors of Pvt Ltd, OPC, and public companies must have a Class 3 DSC to digitally sign MCA SPICe+, AOC-4, MGT-7, and other ROC forms.
Companies and LLPs filing GST registration, GSTR returns, and GST portal applications need a Class 3 DSC for digital authentication.
Companies, LLPs, and partnership firms must e-file income tax returns using a DSC. Auditors also need DSC for digitally signing audit reports.
Government e-tenders on CPWD, GeM, and state procurement portals require Class 3 DSC to submit bids and sign tender documents electronically.
Importers and exporters applying for IEC on the DGFT portal must use a Class 3 DGFT DSC for licence amendments and EXIM filings.
Employers submitting PF returns, registration, and transfer claims on the EPFO unified portal use DSC to authenticate submissions digitally.
A DSC is used across every major government portal. Here's what it unlocks:
Minimal documentation — most verification is done via Aadhaar OTP or Video KYC.
We fill and submit the DSC application form with your PAN, Aadhaar, and personal details on the Certifying Authority portal.
Identity verified via Aadhaar OTP (instant) or Video KYC call (within a few hours). No physical paperwork required.
After verification, the Certifying Authority generates your digital certificate and loads it onto a secure USB crypto token.
The physical USB token with your DSC is dispatched by courier to your address. Tracked delivery within 1–2 business days.
We guide you through installing the DSC driver and activating the token on MCA, GST, and other required portals.

Class 3 is the highest-security DSC in India, mandatory since January 2021 for all MCA (ROC) filings, GST registration, DGFT IEC applications, trademark filings, and government e-tendering. The earlier Class 2 has been discontinued.
DSCs are typically issued with a validity of 1 year or 2 years. ClearlyComply recommends the 2-year DSC for cost efficiency. Renewal must be done before expiry to avoid disruption.
Yes. A single Class 3 DSC can be used across MCA21, GST portal, DGFT, IT portal, IP India, GeM, CPWD, and other government portals — one token works everywhere.
For MCA and most government portals, yes — DSC must reside on a FIPS-certified USB crypto token. ClearlyComply includes the token in all packages.
Yes. Foreign nationals and NRIs who are directors of Indian companies can get a Class 3 DSC. The process uses passport-based KYC instead of Aadhaar. Validity and usage remain the same.
An expired DSC cannot be used to sign documents. MCA, GST, and DGFT filings will be rejected. ClearlyComply sends renewal reminders 30 days before expiry and handles renewal end-to-end.
Yes. Each director or authorised signatory needs their own individual DSC. The DSC is tied to the individual's PAN and Aadhaar — it cannot be shared between persons.
DSC registration costs vary by type. Class 3 Individual DSC with 2-year validity starts at ₹1,499 all-inclusive — this covers the FIPS-certified USB token, Aadhaar eKYC verification, and full portal setup support. Class 3 Organisation DSC starts at ₹3,999. DGFT DSC is ₹2,499. DSC Renewal is ₹1,299. All ClearlyComply prices are all-inclusive with zero hidden charges. Government fees are built into the CA's pricing — there are no separate government filing fees for DSC.
Class 2 DSC was discontinued by the Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA) in January 2021. All new DSC registrations in India are now Class 3 only. Class 3 uses stricter KYC — Aadhaar OTP or Video KYC — and offers higher cryptographic security. It is mandatory for MCA21, GST portal, DGFT, IT portal, e-tendering, and all major government portals. If you have an old Class 2 DSC it cannot be renewed — you must apply for a fresh Class 3 DSC.
DGFT DSC is a special Class 3 DSC issued by licensed Certifying Authorities specifically for the DGFT (Directorate General of Foreign Trade) portal at dgft.gov.in. It is required for IEC (Import Export Code) registration, licence amendments, SCOMET filings, and EXIM applications. Unlike a regular Class 3 DSC, DGFT DSC carries an additional DGFT-specific extension. A regular Class 3 Individual DSC will not be accepted on the DGFT portal — importers and exporters must apply for the DGFT variant specifically.
After receiving your USB token by courier: (1) Insert the token into your computer's USB port. (2) Download and install the driver software from eMudhra, Capricorn, or the included instructions. (3) Install the DSC signing utility for your browser. (4) Navigate to the required portal (MCA21, GST portal, DGFT, etc.). (5) When prompted to sign, select your DSC certificate from the USB token. ClearlyComply provides complimentary remote setup support — our team guides you through installation on any portal, same day via remote session or WhatsApp.
Video KYC is an alternate identity verification method for DSC registration when your Aadhaar is not linked to your mobile number. A Certifying Authority representative conducts a short video call (5–10 minutes) where you show your PAN card, Aadhaar card, and answer basic identification questions on camera. Video KYC takes 2–4 hours longer than instant Aadhaar OTP verification. ClearlyComply schedules your Video KYC appointment and walks you through the entire process — you do not need to visit any office.
Yes. DSC renewal is recommended at least 30 days before expiry to avoid any disruption to your MCA, GST, or DGFT filings. ClearlyComply sends automatic renewal reminders to all clients 30 days before the DSC expiry date. Renewal involves fresh identity verification (Aadhaar OTP or Video KYC) and re-issuance of a new certificate on the same or a new USB token. DSC Renewal starts at ₹1,299 for Class 3 Individual. Important: if your DSC has already expired, renewal is not possible — you must apply for a fresh DSC.
If your DSC token is lost, stolen, or physically damaged, you must (1) immediately apply for DSC Reissuance and (2) revoke the existing certificate to prevent misuse by anyone who may have found the token. ClearlyComply's DSC Reissue service (₹1,499) handles revocation of the old certificate and issuance of a new DSC on a fresh USB token. For a damaged token where the PIN is still intact, the data may be recoverable — contact our support team before buying a new token.
DSC is mandatory for companies and LLPs applying for GST registration and signing applications on the GST portal (gst.gov.in). Proprietors and partnership firms may use Aadhaar e-sign instead of DSC for basic GST registration. However, for GSTR filings, GST appeal submissions, and refund applications where the authorised signatory is a director of a Pvt Ltd or LLP, DSC is required. Each authorised signatory needs their own individual Class 3 DSC — a company-level or shared DSC is not permitted on the GST portal.
