Frequently Asked Questions
What documents are required for FSSAI Basic Registration?+
For FSSAI Basic Registration: Aadhaar card or PAN card (ID proof), one passport-size photograph, proof of business address (rent agreement or utility bill), and a completed Form A with declaration. If the premises are rented, an NOC from the landlord is also needed. These 4–5 documents are typically sufficient.
Is a NOC from municipality required for FSSAI?+
Yes, an NOC from the local municipality or Municipal Corporation is required for State and Central License applications. For Basic Registration, this NOC is generally not required. The municipality NOC confirms that your food business premises comply with local zoning and public health regulations.
What is an FSMS plan and how do I prepare it?+
An FSMS (Food Safety Management System) plan is a written document describing your food safety procedures. For State License, it typically needs to cover: hygiene and sanitation practices, personal hygiene of food handlers, pest control measures, storage and temperature control, HACCP principles (hazard analysis), and record-keeping. ClearlyComply provides a ready-made FSMS template as part of the State License service.
Do I need GST registration for FSSAI?+
GST registration is not a mandatory document for FSSAI registration. However, if your business already has GST registration, the GSTIN number may be entered optionally in the FSSAI application. Basic Registration applicants (below ₹12 lakh turnover) often do not have GST registration, and that is perfectly acceptable.
Can I get FSSAI with Aadhaar as the only ID proof?+
Yes. Aadhaar card is accepted as a valid ID proof for FSSAI Basic Registration. For State and Central License, PAN card of the proprietor is additionally required. If your Aadhaar is linked to your PAN, that simplifies the verification process significantly.
